This story – to be found at
http://www.thegreatstory.org/PaganMetarelig.html, was comissioned by author Connie Barlow in 2002, for her series of metareligious essays, which are now published on her site at
http://www.thegreatstory.org/metareligious.html
It is designated there as the telling of how the Universe Story, or ‘Great Story’ has enriched a Pagan religious practice. The story as it is presented there is entitled The Universe Story as Unfolding of the Triple Goddess and Her Seasonal Celebration. There could be many other such stories told from a Pagan experience … and that would be true for any other religious tradition as well.
Glenys begins her story set in her childhood context: “The Way the Cosmos Was for a White Protestant Australian Country Girl”. Rob Blake, who hosts this website, found her telling of this story – “the tale of the European girl lost in the new world” – to have “a strong resonance with those who have lost their place by other means too – desecration of nature, capitalist servitude, etc …”.
The original story upon which this one is based was written in 1996. Other bits of the story have been spliced into the book PaGaian Cosmology.
