Though I feel that this thesis was written so long ago and has been in some ways “superseded” by many other writings since, I have been encouraged to publish it by women doing research in related topics and by women participating in the classes I teach on “Re-Storying and Celebrating Goddess in You”. There appears to be a desire for more access to this thesis simply as it is.

The text has been reformatted, and some obvious corrections made for this edition. I have, however, resisted the temptation to rewrite, fix sentence structure, improve expression or to add research.
