June Solstice @ EarthGaia 2017 C.E.

wintersol 08 in moon court-34It is the Season of Solstice, when Earth’s tilt leans both hemispheres, South and North, to the furthest point in relationship with Mother Sun, our Source of life and being. Thus the hours of dark or light peak, come to fullness; and there is a turning, a re-turning, to the other again. Solstice may be considered a moment of Sacred Interchange; an interchange of the manifesting sentient dark, and the manifestation of light and form – in one direction or the other. With Winter Solstice – which it is in the Southern Hemisphere – there is a turning into the light, the promise of ongoing Creativity and Being. With Summer Solstice – which it is in the Northern Hemisphere – there is a turning into the dark, the pouring forth of fullness of being, returning the gift to the Great Sentience whence it comes.summersol 09

The Solstices mirror each other … the Winter peaking of dark celebrating the Origins/Womb of all, which is at the same time a Flaring Forth of being … as happens in every moment in the quantum foam, and as the Sun’s “return” may assure: and the Summer peaking of light celebrating a Radiance, the shining forth of all that a being is or may be, which is at the same time a dissolving of self … as the Sun does in every moment. Solstice – Winter or Summer – may be a special Seasonal Moment for celebrating this Place of Being, the Communion that we find ourselves in, the reciprocity at the heart of life, the relational reality of being: Winter more about the organic miracle of it, and Summer more about its awesomeness. Mother Sun is a primary model for this deep Communion, and generosity of being: pouring forth in every moment, feeding the world, embedded in every thought and action.

The actual Moment of June Solstice 2017 is 4:24 UT 21st, or 14:24 21st EST Australia which is where I am. For all planetary times see http://www.archaeoastronomy.com/2017.html

For the Southern Hemisphere June Solstice is Winter with longer daily hours of darkness peaking, and the magic of the return towards the light. It may be a remembering of the Space/Void/Night – Her fertile dark matter – out of which All arises: existence springs forth in every moment out of the dark sentience in which we are always immersed … it is an ongoing miracle of manifestation, in every moment, in every day. Untitled18It is expressed cross-culturally and throughout the ages in the icon of Mother and Child.

For the Northern Hemisphere June Solstice is Summer with the peaking of the longer daily hours of light, and the awesomeness of the return to the dark. It may be a remembering of the fullness of being, the shining forth of it, and the organic re-union with the Space/Void/Night – to whom All returns: it is the fulfilment of our purpose, existence is poured forth, given away, in every moment, in every day. Summer RadhaIt is often expressed as a union of Beloved and Lover, which may be understood as a union of small self with Larger Self.

If you are celebrating Winter Solstice – The Birthplace of the Universe  may be an inspiring contemplation of our Origins, the Womb in which we are. And whichever Solstice it is that you may be celebrating, these short clips of Brian Swimme’s DVD’s may be nurturant of that spirit: Radiance and Generosity of the Sun.

Here in the Blue Mountains of Australia we will celebrate Winter Solstice ceremony on the 17th June, gathering in our “MoonCourt” – ceremonial space for Goddess – at 7pm. The invitation reads:

At this time when the Dark part of day is longest, as Earth leans us away from Sun to the furthest point,

You are invited to celebrate

WINTER SOLSTICE

Darkness reaches Her fullness, and  yet …

She turns, and the seed of Light  is born.

This is the season for the lighting of candles,

and receiving the Gift of Birth.

The story of Old tells us that on this night,

the Great Mother gives birth

to the Divine Child

– the New Young One within all.

We celebrate Her eternal Cosmogenesis,

and the Miracle of Being.

O Holy Night

If you wish to attend, you may contact me (Glenys) for an invitation and details.
